Layered oxides cathodes for Na-ion batteries

The cathode, as the critical component determining the energy density and cost, needs further improvement and has received tremendous research attention. Our current research focuses on P2-type layered oxide cathode, which has a high operating voltage and enables fast Na ions mobility.

We explore the impact of high configurational entropy (high entropy oxides) on long-term stability.  Additionally, efforts are placed on investigating the capacity provided by anionic redox reaction in addition to the charge stored on transition metals. This approach is emerging as a leverage to boost the capacity and energy density of layered oxides cathodes and promote the practical application of Na-ion batteries.
