DRX cathodes offer a rich chemical space, allowing for greater versatility in their composition compared to layered oxides, which predominantly use a combination of Ni, Co, and Mn. The flexibility in their chemical composition also opens up opportunities for reducing reliance on critical and expensive elements, thus potentially lowering costs and improving sustainability. Recently, research has shown that DRX cathodes can achieve high capacity and energy density, making them strong competitors for next-generation Li-ion batteries. more

Operando_methods

Qingsong has a keen interest in experimental techniques and DIY setups, particularly those involving operando/in-situ measurements. By focusing on operando measurements, the team aims to capture real-time data and dynamic changes in materials under operational conditions, providing deeper insights into their behaviors and mechanisms. In addition to the hard XAS experiments often carried out at P65 (Hamburg, DESY) and KMC2 (Berlin, BESSY II), the team has collaboration with Department Interface Design at HZB for operando soft XAS measurement.
